STEM + girls = changing the world

Colorado girls and women interested in exploring science, technology, engineering and math careers should consider attending an exciting event this Saturday, November 2nd!

STEM Ventures, along with the Douglas County School District, is hosting a continental breakfast, STEM resources fair and panel discussion this weekend. “STEM Women and Our Daughters Changing the World” will feature keynote speaker, Jill Tietjen, President and CEO of Technically Speaking, Inc. Ms. Tietjen has worked in the electric utility industry for 37 years, where she provides planning consulting services and serves as an expert witness. Panelists include Elizabeth Celania-Fagen, superintendent of DCSD and a former chemistry and biology teacher; Tinesha Ross, Systems Engineer with United Launch Alliance; Cindy Williams, president of GeoInsight Inc. and director of STEM Ventures; and Josephine Kilde, a PhD student at the University of Colorado-Boulder and founder of Kenya National.

The event is $5 for students, $10 for adults and $20 for the family. It is slated to run from 9 a.m.- noon, November 2, 2013, at Ranch View Middle School, 1731 Wildcat Reserve Parkway, Highlands Ranch.
