Learn, lead with the Blossom Project

If you are a high school girl in the 7 county metro Denver area (Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson), apply to become a participant in the Blossom Project! Applications are due on April 25, 2014 by 5:00 p.m.

Participants meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second Sunday of every month. The program follows a three-tiered approach, focusing the first year on identifying important issues in Colorado, followed by a look at the national perspective the second year, and the global perspective around the issues the third year.

The Blossom Project  uses a collaborative model to inspire high school girls to create visionary change in their communities, country and around the globe. This is a learning, leadership, advocacy and philanthropy program, where girls identify issues that are important to them. Past issues have included teen dating violence, reproductive justice, media representation of girls, and poverty.

  • Learning – girls do a deeper dive on the issues. The learning sessions are led by inspiring women leaders who are experts in their fields.
  • Leadership – girls lead social change efforts, engaging their peers.
  • Advocacy – girls create advocacy plans to address issues.
  • Philanthropy – girls raise money to fund organizations that are working to address the issues that they have identified. The girls create funding applications, invite proposals, read and rank applications, conduct site visits and make funding decisions. Philanthropy is an important part of the program that teaches young activists about the importance of funding advocacy.

Participants meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second Saturday of every month. The program follows a three-tiered approach, focusing the first year on identifying issues through working and learning in Colorado, followed by examining the issues from a national perspective the second year, and the global perspective around the issues the third year.
