Become a changemaker with YouthRoots

Are you a creative and motivated individual committed to changing the world by strengthening  your local community? Then YouthRoots might be just the place for you to put your talents and energy!

YouthRoots is a local youth-led leadership development program aimed to teach and empower high school students to change the world. Each year, YouthRoots selects 15 area teens to serve a one-year advisory board term. “The program is designed to do what the root of the word means: to love humankind while realizing your full human potential.” YouthRoots does this by fostering the tools and mindsets necessary to change the world. On the philanthropy side, the organization helps teens “conduct a needs assessment of their community to determine the top three funding priorities. Once they finish fundraising for the three issues, the youth will get the chance to practice their new found skills. They will have to lead, problem-solve, engage the team and decide where the money raised should go.”

The deadline to apply is August 15. Teens must be a high school sophomore, junior or senior for the fall 2013 school year.
