Affordable holiday break ideas

With schools out for holiday break, it’s easy to let boredom come creeping in. But not so fast. Below are a bunch of options, mostly affordable, you and your friends and family can do to get the most out of your break from school.

New Years Teen Gala: Black with a Splash of Color - $15-$20

“Join us as we celebrate the 1st Annual Teen New Years Party! Come dressed to impress, as we bring in the New Year with sparkling cider toast and balloon drop. A LIVE DJ will be spinning the hottest tracks all night! A Hudson Christmas - Hudson Gardens and Events Center – $6-$9

Join the Hudson Gardens as we present A Hudson Christmas, celebrating 25 nights of Christmas cheer from the Thanksgiving holiday through January 1 on select evenings. Hundreds of thousands of lights create a magical display in our thirty-acre winter wonderland, highlighting the grandeur of The Gardens in winter. Blossoms of Light - Denver Botanic Gardens – $4.50-$9.50

“Embrace the holiday season at Blossoms of Light. Over one million colorful lights draped in elegant designs highlight the Gardens winter beauty. Romantic and popular kissing spots will return, as well as the always anticipated HoloSpex glasses. Warm drinks and tasty treats will also be available. Seasonal entertainment will be available on select evenings. Free for children 2 and under. No pets please. Zoo Lights – The Denver Zoo – $6-$10

Living Lights - Butterfly Pavilion and Insect Center – $3-$9

It’s a fantastical journey through our indoor twinkling tropical rainforest and interactive exhibits with live animals, as well as an outdoor adventure through our glowing gardens featuring larger-than-life sculptures made from 95% recycled steel and LED lighting! Each night features live holiday entertainment and tasty treats in our Holiday Rainforest Cafe for adventurers of all ages. Southwest Rink at Skyline Park – $2 (for skate rentals)

“Skyline Park is the place to be this holiday season! Southwest Airlines and the Downtown Denver Partnership invite you to grab your family and friends and head to 16th and Arapahoe in Downtown Denver to the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park.

Skate rentals are $2 – or bring your own pair and skate for FREE! Free days for kids will take place throughout the season. Look for regularly scheduled entertainment and activities each week including:
